Oyama Magnolia.

Description:

Oyama Magnolia. This is one of the lesser known magnolias but
with time has generated a lot of excitement with its late-spring and
summer flowers.

Many of us have spent spring evenings dragging tarps around the
garden to cover the magnolia through a frost warning.

Magnolia sieboldii solves the frost problem by flowering long after
danger of frost has passed. In Kentucky, the first flowers emerge from new growth in the middle or late part of May.

It continues to flower throughout summer.

Flowers are 3-4" in diameter, delicate white with a deep red center.

They have light fragrance and do continue to bloom off and on
throughout the summer. No one believes that it is a magnolia.

Hardy from Zone 4b and South.

Since this is a small tree, close inspection of the flowers is easy- a true
delight.

Harold Pellett at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is growing it
succesfully in windy Zone 4.

We ship a 3 year transplant with a 1/4" to 3/8" trunk.This spring.

It is a wonderfull tree.

The price is $ 12.50 for a 3 year transplant.
