Dawn Redwood.

Home Page

Once thought extinct, Dawn Redwood rediscovers the nursery market.

Metasequoia glyptostroboides was rediscovered

in 1941 outside the Motaochi village in China.

Before that time the tree was only known as

a fossil.

The species is considered to be over 100 million

years old, penning its nickname"The Dinosaur Tree"

Dawn redwood is a decidous conifer, loosing its

needles in fall after displaying its unique orange-red

brown fall foliage. It has a very fast growth rate,

possibly reaching 25' in 10 years. This is a large tree

maturing to 100' plus. Suitable for larger landscapes where it can serve as a focal point or grouped to form a screen . Dawn Redwood is easy to transplant.

Plant a bit of novel botanical history this season.

We have them in 4"x4" pots and about 36" tall. $ 15.00 each.
